Actually I didn't realize I had aurora on film until I got this roll of film developed. I had gone out to shoot the aurora this nite at Saylorville Lake north of Des Moines, Iowa, and upon arriving and patiently watching and waiting, I never visually saw anything but decided to shoot some 60 sec exposures just in case there was something there. If there was a weak aurora display there that I couldn't see, I knew the film might pick it up since it can gather color and light over a long period, unlike the human eye which cannot detect color well at low light levels. A nice surprise to find that I had indeed captured the green and red-colored aurora that evening, along with all the many stars due to the longer exposure. |
