Total Lunar Eclipse- Jan. 20, 2000
This is a sequence of images taken over approximately a 4 hour period.  Weather conditions were not ideal to say the least.  Clouds moving through all evening and temperatures of 10 degrees F. made shooting this eclipse quite challenging.  But I was determined to at least get a few shots of it and fortunately the clouds broke a little bit and at the right time for the most part.  My only regret is that I didn't have my Nikon digital camera yet, the images would have been much better since I could have afocally coupled it to one of my binocular lenses.  Instead I had to shoot these will my old Minolta using a 210mm telephoto lens.  What was very striking was when the moon just came out of the earth's umbral shadow and the very bottom left of the moon lit up brilliantly while the rest of the moon was still the dark orange color.  I was a little too late getting that shot.  At the very least, the images give you an idea of what I saw that cold January evening.
